What are the Duggars Doing Wrong?
Check out this article about the Duggars.
I completely agree, but apparently most of the commenters do not. Surprising.
Here was my comment:
I am soooo surprised at the response to this article.
I thought that most people felt the way that the author felt.
I agree with everything that the author said. It is fantastic that the Duggars are loving parents without debt and so much organization, but the amount of children and their being on television poses such huge problems for these children, I find it criminal.
Besides the obvious fact that the amount of children Michelle has had has caused such a strain on her body that it no longer wants to be pregnant and in self defense is rejecting the notion, the biggest problem comes from the point the author makes about the older children.
No child should have to raise children. They should be allowed to be children and not have the responsibilities of adults. To me there is no difference between what the Duggars are doing and parents that completely abandon their children forcing the oldest children to shoulder the burden of responsibility. We scream foul when we see a 16 year old having to work full time while still in school to help take care of the family when the dad has completely abandoned the children, but why is it okay for the Duggars to force the same amount of responsibility on their kids?
I know no one is going to change their opinion on this, I'm just so surprised that society has obviously gotten away from championing individuals and individual rights, even when it comes to children.
