I want to leave a note to anyone in the South that has been affected by the series of storms and tornadoes that has come through your area. I don't know that any of you will read this, but just in case you do.
As someone who has lived through the damage, death, and destruction that the can come from extreme weather, I know that you can recover. It takes time to grieve, heal, and rebuild, but eventually you will see your community in a new way and it will become more of a family than you could have imagined.
I look around and often forget about all the things we had to overcome, but today while thinking of you, I saw some of the scars left in our home. The picture I took today is of two large signs that were knocked down by the May 5th tornado. Thankfully these restaurants and all of the other businesses and homes in this area have been rebuilt. All of the half torn down structures serve to remind us that at a time when we didn't think things could possibly be any worse, we pulled together and helped each other up and have made our home, home again.
I would like to wish you the love, grace, and success that we have had in overcoming the obstacles that can come from nature taking precious things from us and giving us back hope and a real sense of community.
