Almost Famous

Watching Kathy Lee and Hoda talk about Anthony Weiner's text "friend" and her now 15 minutes of fame.  I completely understand why she wants that fame and attention.  I think most people do. Most people want their place in this world to be a special one. Most people do not want to believe that their place on earth is along with the other thousands of unheard of and unappreciated.

I struggle myself with the need to make my mark of the world, to do something special and matters. And if I am quietly credited in the public eye for my awesome contribution, then all the better. I think most people are like me and want that attention.  If they don't acknowledge or know they feel this way, they are probably living vicariously through one or more celebrities.

It is no wonder that this girl glommed onto a famous politician. Then she used her bad behavior to get public attention. Kim Kardashian's example of becoming famous from a sex tape has ruined young "ladies". "If you have no real discernible talent and you want to be famous, use sex." It is so awful.  Farrah from Teen Mom has tried to do the same thing to extend her 15 minutes. It is a real shame, especially for her also semi-famous daughter.

I would draw the line myself before creating a sex tape, tweeting dirty tweets with a married man, or joining the porn community. I wonder if there are more people like me or like them.  I want to be special, but in a positive way.  I want the world to be better because of me. When I leave this world, I want to have made s difference for more than just my family.
